Friction Fire - Hand drill
Over the last decade I have facilitated numerous fire making workshops, creating fire by friction is not just something you do, it’s a way of being. Fire has been one of my most demanding teachers over the years and I am grateful for all the lessons it has taught me.
In this program, you will be introduced to the whole process of making fire by friction with a hand drill, from what species of plants to harvest for the spindle and hearth board, how to make your own hearth board and spindle, how to locate the best tinder, and of course how to make fire in a responsible way.
Duration: 3 hours
Cost: $105 per person
Friction fire kit included
What to bring:
Please bring something to sit on (picnic blanket, yoga mat or fold out chair), stationary for taking notes. Weather in Tasmania is unpredictable, ensure you arrive with a warm jacket, a raincoat and sun protection. Some of this course will take place off track, it is imperative that you bring sturdy worn in shoes. Making fire by friction can be quite a physically demanding skill at first; if you have soft hands it is recommended you bring some band-aids and sports/climbing tape as blisters are a possibility.
This course does not include lunch, please ensure you bring whatever food/snacks and water you may require.
